As I sleep in the blackness of earth

106

I left you
In the pitch darkness,
With my poems in your ears,
And my breath with you.
My heart roams the roads,
Faithless darkness engulfs the night,
Istanbul remains far, and I – without you,
On this August night, I head down the road.

Nights are endless,
My eyes become yours,
Jitters break the silence of night,
As bullets await on the upcoming path.

My deep wounds,
My bleeding dreams,
And your smile.
Istanbul remains far, but I’m with you,
Bleeding in the corner of a hospital.

You have to forget me,
As I plunge in the darkness,
To wander in my dreams.
It hurts to be without you,
But never let the tears shed in my absence,
Divert you from the chosen path.

Let go of my hands already, let me go,
Istanbul remains far, And I – everywhere,
As I sleep in the blackness of earth.

(Yatıyorum toprak karanlığında )
